Halloween and autumn are a great time of year for kids, particularly for children who like crafts and decorations. There’s so much out there to inspire creativity from scary ghosts and goblins to beautiful colorful foliage. No matter what your children’s interests are, there’s likely a fall-themed or Halloween craft or class out there that will excite and stimulate them. From cooking classes to art projects, Your Local Kids wants you to know what’s out there, so children can explore their interests or just simply enjoy the season.

Build a Halloween House

Halloween and fall is a busy time at Hicks Nurseries in Westbury.  There are plenty of events connected to their fall harvest as well as a number of adult programs related to creating autumnal flower displays. On Tuesday, October 11, Wednesday, October 12,  and Thursday, October 13, kids can make a Halloween house for the Nursery’s seasonal mascot Otto the ghost. Reservations are required and the $15 per child fee includes candy and icing for the project.

Cooking Class

Forget the tricks, Halloween is all about the treats and what could be more fun than making delicious desserts yourself? Celebrations in the Kitchen, located in Hicksville is hosting Halloween themed cooking classes for kids. You can choose between a Halloween cookie baking and decorating class or decorating a chocolate haunted house, with both classes taking place at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25. Then on Saturday, October 29 and Sunday, October 30 at 9 a.m. there will be Halloween cupcake baking classes. Registration is required.
