Project 1: Raking excess mowed grass from restoration field. The grassland restoration field is mowed each year to ensure that it will continue to attract grassland birds and many other organisms that depend upon this habitat. Removing excess cut grass helps keeps the grassland healthy. Come help maintain this important habitat and enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. You will rake the cut grass onto a plastic tarp and easily slide it to the edge of the field where it can be spread out. Bring your own rake and garden gloves. Wear long light colored pants that can be tucked into your socks for tick protection. Bring a hat, sun block and water. Wear sturdy footwear. Adults 18 and over only. Bring garden gloves. Project 2: Beach Clean-up: Help clean-up the litter along Caumsett’s beautiful shoreline. Wear sturdy footwear, hat and sunblock. Bring water. Appropriate for 13 and up. Bring garden gloves. Additional tools: Sunblock, water and a hat.
