Suffolk County Parks
Belmont Lake State Park
This park has amazing trails and big open space to play and run. You can picnic here or just go kick a ball around any day. There’s a lake front trail and ducks to visit. Playgrounds, fishing, rowboats and kayaks are all available as well! You can visit the website before to grab a scavenger hunt adventure, trail map or kids fun book!
South Haven Park
This park is a great family adventure and offers something for everyone! You can spend the day hiking or picnicking, go out on the water to fish or take out a rowboat or canoe. But our favorite thing about this park is the Long Island Live Steamers. A train track with a ride on train for the family or kids to ride around the park. Check the website for schedules and availability.
Nassau County & Queens Parks
Eisenhower Park
This park features three playgrounds (including an inclusive playground that’s a safe space for wheel chairs and all accessibility), and a sprinkle park. Their swimming and mini golf are expected to open later this summer and there is also a 9.11 monument you can stop at for a history lesson.
Socrates Sculpture Park
This park is always amazing, but is extra special right now with museums being closed. This park features an array of outdoor art exhibits, shows and farmers markets. It’s a great experience for any family looking to get outside and continue distance learning. It’s also a great place to picnic or come to work on art projects.
